I’m always looking for great beauty products to take with me when I travel. It’s really important to find products that keep your skin healthy, hydrated and glowing; whether you’re riding camels into the Sahara Desert in Morocco or sitting, eating crepes in Paris or stuck on a long-haul flight from Brisbane to London. The best beauty products are the ones that make you look and feel your best and can easily be packed in your luggage and taken with you on your adventures.

Here’s a look at a few of the brands and products I’m really into at the moment. What are your favourites?

Skincare essentials

I much prefer to use natural beauty products wherever I can because I truly believe they’re better for you. Originating in New Zealand, the Antipodes range offers certified organic, vegetarian products that are eco-friendly and plant-based. I have dry, sensitive skin and found these products have been really great for me. Words like ‘nourish’ and ‘nurture’ pop into mind when I use them.

The team at Antipodes sent me a whole bunch of their products to try out and, to be honest, I’m obsessed with them. I want to slather them all over my face. The products smell great, they feel great when you use them and I really like knowing I’m putting natural products on my face, not just big scoops of chemicals.

I know it’s probably a bit shallow of me, but seriously, the whole Antipodes range looks really beautiful too. The packaging is all totally recyclable and, very importantly, a lot of the product sizes come under the all-important 100ml liquid limit for international flights. This makes them easy to pack in your beauty bag and means they won’t be confiscated by airport security.

The Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator is a really gentle exfoliator for face, with rich avocado oil and jojoba beads that gently remove impurities without being harsh. Marigold flower oil repairs skin while carrot seed extract clears and revitalises. Cedarwood and sweet orange have a soothing, calming effect, leaving your skin balanced, soft, smooth and glowing.

The Aura Manuka Honey Mask is deep cleansing, using antibacterial properties to help clear blemishes (which I desperately need help with, especially when travelling). The mask uses Manuka honey, Pohutukawa bloom and vanilla blood to cleanse and balance your skin, leaving it smelling and feeling amazing.

Jubilation ultra-nourishing hand and body cream is a tube of thick, moisturising goodness. It’s enriched with super-fruit kiwi seed oil, feijoa and wild blackcurrant which means it smells and feels amazing. It’s perfect to slather on those really dry, parched parts of your skin that pop up when you travel. It’s ideal for hands, elbows, knees, shins and any other areas that are excessively dry.

Grace gentle cream cleanser has been really great for my sensitive dry skin. I often find cleansers dry my skin right out or leave it feeling like it might crack if I smile. Grace has been so gentle on my skin and leaves it feeling fresh and bright each time I use it! I’m really loving it. It clears impurities, removes makeup and is dermatologically approved. It uses organic avocado oil, marigold and pinto noir super-antioxidant Vinanza Oxifend to cleanse, refresh and soften.

Dry lips

Chap Stick and Blistex for dry lips

I suffer from dry lips and am always slathering on lip balms. This problem becomes even bigger when I’m having a travel day or am stuck on a flight, long or short haul. Aside from drinking lots of water to stay hydrated, I also use lots of lip balm. My favourites at the moment are ChapStick Strawberry Lip Balm and Blistex Lip Conditioner. The Lip Conditioner, in particular, is amazing, it feels tingly when it goes on, is SPF15 and I find a really good, thick layer of it lasts for a long time.

Sunscreen for face

I am a HUGE stickler for wearing sunscreen and it’s really important to stay on top of it when you’re travelling. I absolutely l-o-v-e Hamilton Everyday Face as it has a matt finish, meaning it gives you perfect, invisible coverage and is not greasy at all. As you can see from the little dot I squeezed out (above photo) it has a pink/beige tinge to it which blends into skin perfectly to become invisible. It’s SPF50+ and offers high protection, it’s loaded with aloe vera and vitamin E so it’s moisturising, it’s UVA/UVB broad spectrum and is free from lanolin, fragrance and PABA. I use it daily under my makeup and this small 75g tube can be taken on planes.

Face and body essentials

Lush Charity Pot luscious hand and body lotion

Charity Pot luscious hand and body lotion from Lush is my go-to moisturiser when I’m on a short-term trip. The pot holds 100g, so I can take it on a plane and find that amount lasts me a good length of time. It’s easy to throw in my luggage and doesn’t take up much space either. I really like that the lotion is light-weight because it spreads really easily, it’s the perfect product to slather all over your body, from head to toe, to keep your skin well-hydrated. It’s packed with cocoa butter and almond oil, so it’s super moisturising and, honestly, it smells AMAZING.

Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream is a brilliant all rounder. I really dislike the feeling of greasy anything on my face and have been loving how light this face cream is. It’s gentle, soothing and feels amazing going on. I’ve been using it under my makeup and day-to-day without make-up over the top. At 60ml you can take it on the plane with you and use it regularly to keep your skin hydrated on a long-haul flight. It uses avocado oil, Manuka bloom, vanilla pod and sweet almond to bring your skin to life and leave it glowing and gorgeous.

I’ve been using Worship Superfruit Antioxidant Serum underneath the daily face cream. This stuff smells SO GOOD, it’s ridiculous how good it smells. The colour of the liquid was a bit confronting at first, as it’s a deep brownish-red, but the colour doesn’t stay on your skin after it’s absorbed. All the beautiful nutrients and antioxidants of super fruit are slathered onto your greedy skin, including coffee berry, acai, boysenberry, blackcurrant, kiwifruit and Vinanza Grape. It just feels yummy.

Saviour Skin Balm

Antipodes Saviour Skin Balm is pretty much just a one stop shop. It’ll cure what ails you, from dry or cracked skin, chapped lips, stretch marks and unsightly cuticles to grazes, bruises and everything else in between. It’s one of those products you keep in your hand luggage and bring out for any and every skin emergency. Again, at 75g, it’s under the all-important 100ml carry-on limit for liquids. It uses nutrient-rich natural oils and antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial healing properties as well as echinacea and Vinanza Grape to work its magic on your face and body.

Make-up

Clinique Chubby Stick cheek colour balm

The Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm is one of my most-used makeup items. I don’t tend to wear a lot of make-up and I’d be lost without this gorgeous stick of wonder. I apply it to the apples of my cheeks to give an instant pop of colour and a natural glow. The product is oil-free, non-greasy and beautifully creamy. You just dot it onto your cheeks and blend toward your hairline, using your fingertips. I also use it as a lipstick from time-to-time! The shade I use (pictured) is Robust Rhubarb and it’s super easy to pop in your beauty bag when you travel as there’s no fear of it getting broken or exploding in your luggage. It’s easy to swipe on and blend, then you’re ready to hit the road!
