Majorca, Spain

The beautiful and popular Spanish island of Majorca plays home to scores of tourists throughout the year. It’s famous for drop-dead gorgeous beaches complete with perfect white sand and brilliant blue water, begging you in for a dip after a big day lapping up the sunshine. Not only is Majorca beautiful, it’s also famous for its raging nightlife and amazing Spanish food, of course.

The best destinations to explore in the Mediterranean

Crete, Greece

With 1000km of coastline, it’s no wonder Greece has become famous for its stunning beaches and a popular hotspot for tourists. As always, what makes a trip to Greece so special is the amazing hospitality you experience and the incredible food. Seriously, so many good food memories. In Crete, you’ll find yourself exploring idyllic beaches while still marvelling at the nearby mountain ranges.

Cinque Terre, Italy

If there’s one thing we know about the Italians, it’s that they’re spoiled with a country filled with natural beauty and amazing food. A visit to Cinque Terre will see you indulging in both of these things and much, much more. Think big green cliffs with brightly coloured homes jutting outside the side, tumbling down to the bright blue water below. Throw in some amazing Italian food and you’re pretty much in heaven.

The best destinations to explore in the Mediterranean

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Like the other places on this list, Dubrovnik gives visitors access to the beautiful blue waters of the Mediterranean. The historic walled city with its marble streets is the perfect place to spend your days wandering and exploring before throwing yourself into the water for a cooling afternoon swim. The views here are spectacular and their sunsets are absolutely not to be missed. There are some pretty amazing cruises and sailing adventures to be had in Croatia too.

Menorca, Spain

Don’t worry, this isn’t a slip-up. We had Majorca, and now we’ve got Menorca. This island is home to some of the clearest water you’ll ever see, which will have you spending every day, in your swimsuit, jumping off boats and snorkelling to your heart’s content. Spain’s allure has made it a top choice for many Americans looking to move abroad, whether for a new career chapter or the perfect retirement destination. Traveller beware, one visit and you may never want to leave.

The best destinations to explore in the Mediterranean

Corsica, France

This spectacular mountainous island is a little different to everything else I’ve mentioned. The island is a mix of coastal towns, forest and peaks jutting out of Earth. Not only will you find yourself surrounded by the Mediterranean, you’ll also be able to take in outdoor pursuits like hiking and camping if you like. Corsica is the ultimate Mediterranean destination for the outdoors lover!

Santorini, Greece

Another gorgeous place to visit in Greece, the island of Santorini is straight out of your Mediterranean dreams. The sky bursts a brilliant blue, with bright white houses and buildings set into the sides of the land, cascading down into towns, topped with bright blue roofs. It’s a place that feels like magic, the days are somehow longer, the weather is perfect and the beaches are unbeatable. If you can, find a way to sail between a few of the Greek Islands in this region, it’s a magical experience.
