Hello! We’re Phoebe and Matt. Phoebe is a writer and presenter and Matt is a videographer. Together, we run Little Grey Box; an award-winning travel blog and YouTube channel.

Travel has brought so much good into our lives. It inspired us to leave our traditional careers and turn Little Grey Box into our full-time jobs, using our creative talents. It has taught us a lot about ourselves by allowing us to connect with amazing people, try new things, see new places and experience other cultures.

To us, travel is an opportunity to create insightful, practical travel guides to help others plan their best adventure and inspire meaningful travel. It has brought so much good into our lives, we want other people to experience it too and fill their life up with amazing experiences and powerful life lessons. At Little Grey Box we don’t just want to travel, we want to travel well.

Our proudest achievements
Work with us!

We intend to see (and share) a whole lot more of the world in 2019. If there’s an opportunity for us to work together, please email: hello@littlegreybox.net

  1. We are making the drive with our child in November. I read stuff about Avalanches? Is that to Milford Sound? We are just doing Christchurch to Queenstown. I”m nervous now though. I picture riding along the side of a giant cliff and lots of snow. I also get car sick. Can you tell me is it windy dangerous roads or is that certain more adventurous routes? Thank you!

    1. Hi Meghan. What a trip! You are going to have so much fun! If you are driving Christchurch to Queenstown the roads are fantastic and in my opinion very safe if you drive safely and to the conditions. I would read up on the road rules and you will be fine. I may be wrong but there shouldn’t be much snow around in November at all so I don’t think you are at much risk of avalanches on that road at all. Matt

        1. Hey Megan,

I live in Queenstown. The State Highway 8 from QT to CHC contains no roads that you would be concerned about avalanche. Only the QT to Milford road (further on), and really only in a big storm in winter, not Nov. Check below for more info, travel slowly and allow time as our roads are windy and narrow. The Lindis pass is the most spectacular section (highest altitudinally) but is fine. You could get snow at any time of the year. Statistically we do every month in QT:)

  2. Greetings from Wisconsin. I met a young lady from China 2 yrs ago in Amazon area. We have stayed in touch and told her I didn’t know where my next adventure should be. She responded “Dan, come and I will show you the real China”. So flight is booked. I’m curious as to which embassy you may have gotten your visa from as I have heard differing processes at different embassies. Have also heard that it may be advantageous to go through an on-line agency. Just wondering if you have any thoughts?
