I’ve spent a lot of time eating and raving about Brisbane’s Best Breakfasts, so I thought it was time to even things up a little and share some of Brisbane’s Best Dinner spots with you. Here are three fantastic places I’ve visited recently and really enjoyed, what are you favourite Brissie dinner spots?

1889 Enoteca

This beautiful, cosy restaurant is tucked into the Moreton Rubber Works building in Woolloongabba. The building is a perfect fit for the restaurant and you can’t help but feel a little bit Melbourne-hole-in-the-wall-cool when you walk in.

Enoteca serves absolutely delicious Roman food and the restaurant ‘theme’ is based on the classic enoteches of Italy. What’s an enoteche? It’s basically a wine library, which is probably the best thing you’ve read all day! Wine. Library. Our good friends at Enoteca have taken the wine library concept and added really great food to it. Pure Italian genius.

Of course, the pasta is home-made and really, really delicious. I’d struggle to recommend you eat anything else but the pasta, then again the rest of the menu looks great too.

I had the tagliatelle with prawns, garlic and chilli. You know it’s going to be good when they don’t harp on about the ingredients, it’s just simple, fresh and amazing. Matt had the hollow spaghetti, fresh tomato sauce, cured pork cheek, chilli and Pecorino Romano. Both our meals were just perfect, the pasta was cooked so well and everything tasted great, even the fresh-baked bread with olive oil was good. I haven’t eaten Italian food like this since I ate it in Italy.

1889 Enoteca isn’t your casual Tuesday night meal out, it’s something a little bit special and a place I’d recommend for a quiet birthday dinner with your best friends or a meal to celebrate a milestone or special moment, like Matt and I did.

Vietnam House

I really like the chilled out, funky interior at Vietnam House. It’s a great place to go for dinner straight after a hard day at work or the perfect place to chill out in a booth with your friends and catch up. I usually go for the early dinner option as it’s nice and quiet, but apparently, it gets pretty busy later on so be sure to book, especially on a Saturday night.

There are loads of things to choose from on the menu and it’s all really well priced. My favourite is the seafood Pho, the bowls are huge and the broth was so yummy, perfect for this chilly winter weather. There was loads of veggies, noodles and tasty bits and pieces in it too. Matt loves the Singapore noodles with lots of chilli, he wolfs it down every time.

They have lots of options for vegetarians and red-meat dodgers and also for the gluten-free among you. The staff are all really sweet, happy and friendly too. There is some parking in the lot behind the restaurant, which is helpful because the Valley can be a nightmare for parking. Overall I really recommend this place for a tasty, affordable and relaxed dinner with good friends.

Spicers Balfour

Until recently I hadn’t realised Spicers Belfour had a restaurant and served incredible meals for breakfast, high-tea, lunch and dinner. The Belfour Kitchen is part of the boutique Spicers Balfour Hotel which sits in a charming, quiet little part of New Farm. It’s the perfect escape, a place to meet up with friends or family for a divine meal in a relaxing, peaceful space.

The food is fresh, simple and downright tasty! The potato gnocchi with tomatoes, purple and green basil and parmesan shards are beautiful to look at and delicious to eat, the best gnocchi I have eaten in a very long time. It isn’t over the top or in-your-face gourmet, it’s just well-prepared food that tastes incredible.

Each of the menus, breakfast, lunch and dinner, have a great variety of choices and vegetarians and gluten-free folk will find something they can enjoy too. I think the food is very well-priced given the quality and taste, you feel a little bit spoilt enjoying your meal like you’ve stumbled into somewhere special.

I’d recommend Spicers Balfour for a lunch with your family or catch up with your girlfriends over a glass of sparkling, or a romantic dinner with your partner. It’s a quiet little haven with delicious food and great service, what more could you want?!
