A look at the week that was and a little insight into the #bloglife, sharing things I just can’t share anywhere else!
Highlights of the week
So, a few hours after I published TW last Friday, something really exciting happened. I got an email inviting us to come down to Melbourne to stay at Space Hotel, attend the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, have a fantastic dinner then head home the next day. It’s one of the things I love most about my job! I’m like a Border Collie, I need constant change, mental stimulation and new activities to keep me interested and engaged.
I remember in previous jobs or even hobbies I’ve had, it’s the routine that drives me mad. The monotony, that every day is the same and I know exactly, day-to-day, week-to-week what’s going to happen. It was particularly bad in my last job because I had been working there for so long I knew the routine year in, year out and it felt like I was trapped on a terrible treadmill (or one of those wheel’s for hamsters). It’s not something I think of as a strength as it can lead to a lot of problems for me because, once I have something figured out, I tend to drop it and never look back. You can see how that can be an issue in your professional and personal life, right? Haha! I’m just very thankful I have Matt, who lets me change and evolve as much as I like without trying to control or change that part of me.
Anyway, getting an email like that is exactly what I love about my job and makes it so suited to me. The sudden pop-up of a fun, new, exciting adventure that’s going to take place in a few days – amazing! We got the email on Friday, knowing Wednesday morning we’d be walking out the front door on our way down to Melbourne. So, I spent the weekend editing this week’s video on YouTube so we wouldn’t be behind schedule. It’s the video guide on things to see, do and eat at Brisbane International Airport – the one I told you we filmed last week, remember?! It goes live tonight if you want to watch it. Also, you can watch last week’s video below – the super fun, Food Fight vid we made in Chiang Mai.
I spent Monday and Tuesday writing loads of blog posts, trying to get ahead of myself so I have some pre-written and ready to go. When we travel, there’s nobody else to pick up the slack for me and keep the blog content going and I often have to just stop posting because I can’t work all day filming and photographing then go back to the hotel and write all night. Knowing we’ve got some big trips coming up in the next few months, I’m trying to do future me a solid and save up some blog posts.
On Wednesday, we headed out to the airport, boarded the plane and jetted down to Melbourne. We were greeted by the fanciest transfer/limo pick up I’ve ever seen, you guys. Seriously, it was this super sleek Mercedes like nothing I’ve ever experienced. What I loved most, is that Space Hotel offers hostel and hotel-style accommodation so, essentially, we rolled up to the hostel in a luxury Mercedes limo haha it killed me! The lovely PR team were there to greet us and showed us to our room, which was far nicer than I was imagining. They hooked us up with a private room, ensuite and the most amazing private balcony with fantastic views of the Melbourne skyline.
We got settled, took some photos of the room for a blog post I’ll write this week and social posts, had a quick photo shoot on the balcony to make the most of golden hour then got ready! The Space Hotel team were amazingly generous and let us invite our bestie, Laker, to join in the whole night. We headed up to the room for sunset drinks and spent the whole time laughing, catching up and enjoying the views of Melbourne. Then, we headed out to the Comedy Festival to catch Tommy Little at The Forum. It was my first ever time attending the Festival and I loved it! I also had no idea it was so affordable to go (more on that in the blog post this week).
Afterwards, we grabbed a late dinner at the Vietnamese restaurant, Uncle, then headed back to Space Hotel for a good night’s sleep. Matt and I ducked out for a quick breakfast the next morning then checked out and headed back to the airport via another fancy transfer car. It was a super quick trip but that’s what I liked about it, just a quick jaunt down and back, one awesome with awesome people then back home to bask in the post-fun memories. Thank you so much to the Space Hotel team for having us, we had a blast and filmed a really fun vlog episode for YouTube too (I’ll let you know when it’s going up). Also, I’m saving my very best photos for that post so, don’t judge me if these aren’t the most amazing photos you’ve ever seen haha
It’s raining here in Brisbane today, which is perfect for sitting at my desk, writing TW with a delicious cup of coffee. I’m pretty exhausted from another big week and quite a few weeks back-to-back without a proper day off so I’m hoping I won’t work over the weekend and can start next week feeling refreshed and ready to go. We’re picking up a brand new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross from the guys at Mitsubishi next week as we’re creating some written content, photographs and a really fun video for them. So, I need to be on my a-game and ready to put the thing through it’s paces (note to self: watch multiple YouTube tutorials on how to drift a car).
Have a great weekend and I’ll talk to you next week

A little insight behind the video…
This week’s video is something I have been wanting to film for a really long time but I was a bit nervous it was silly. In the spirit of trusting my instincts and remembering that the internet is a wild place and you can do whatever the heck you want, I decided to make it happen! So, I spent hours deep-diving the internet trying to find the Pad Thai places people said were the BEST in Chiang Mai.
I chose the three places that appeared the most often/had the most backing from the fine people of the internet, grabbed a Tuk Tuk with Matt and had the driver take us to each spot, ordering the same thing then heading back to the hotel to eat, score and crown a winner! The result, is our first ever Food Fight video! My bigger plan here is to film these in all the places we visit, choosing an iconic dish each time like, the best pizza in Rome, best sushi in Japan, best croissant in Paris etc. You get the idea.
Anyway, we had SO much fun filming this it just reminded why it’s important I trust my instincts and make videos like this. They are so fun to make and I feel so happy filming them that the end product is 5,000 times better! And, really, that’s what it’s all about right? Having fun and enjoying yourself!
Song of the week
The song I’ve been crushing on most this week… (and have been listening to, up loud, on repeat all week).
